北埔的故事，初始便已形成一部居民與來客的融合史。位居北埔、峨眉及寶山等大隘三鄉最繁華之地，行經這座客家山城，訪客就能見到近二世紀以來，歷史在此開展的演變。今日，走入北埔，仿若時光 倒轉，街道巷弄、老屋牆瓦，探訪街坊中繁燦若色的歷史印記，未來的可能樣貌，正從昨日向我們悄 然浮現。
「未來的昔日」邀請國內外與客籍藝術家，回應在地不同時代脈絡、歷史風景、文化精神進行現地創作，將過往的旋律，轉化成了未來的日常。
From its very beginning, the story of Beipu has been a tapestry woven from both its long-time residents and new arrivals. Standing as the most bustling heart of the three Da-Ai townships—Beipu, Emei, and Baoshan—this Hakka mountain town offers visitors a firsthand look at nearly two centuries of history unfolding right before their eyes.
Stepping into Beipu today feels like turning back the clock. The streets, alleys, old homes, and weathered tiles form a vivid mosaic of the past. Yet, it is within these deeply etched historical footprints that a glimpse of tomorrow softly begins to emerge.
THE UPCOMING PAST brings together local Taiwanese, international, and Hakka artists to create site-specific works. Responding directly to the region's distinct historical eras, natural landscapes, and cultural heritage, they transform the melodies of yesterday into the fabric of our future daily lives.
