— Overview
在台灣，燈節擁有更加深厚的意義。
台灣燈會已經超過三十個年頭，不僅是這座島嶼的共同經驗，串起整座島嶼與不同世代，隨著時代更迭，台灣燈會更象徵著島嶼的蛻變。從 2018 年屏東燈會開始，突破生肖傳統，以黑鮪魚主燈象徵在地海洋意象；2019 台中燈會，進一步呼應生態環境，並以雙主燈方式，將燈會的層次提升至人文、藝術、自然三者的結合。每年輪流舉辦的台灣燈會，其實正是一場邀請，邀請各地的旅人來到當地，使人們更加認識這片土地，也凝聚在地居民的光榮感，本次台灣燈會邀請國際間四大燈節團隊，七個外國籍藝術家參與，並展出六十六件大型光影及光雕作品，以新竹市舊城區，以及城市公園為場域打造一個城市型的國家級燈會。
In Taiwan, the Lantern Festival carries a profound cultural significance. Spanning over three decades, the Taiwan Lantern Festival has evolved into a collective memory that bridges generations across the island, serving as a powerful symbol of Taiwan's continuous transformation.
A pivotal shift occurred with the 2018 Pingtung Lantern Festival, which broke away from zodiac traditions by featuring a bluefin tuna main lantern to capture local maritime identity. The 2019 Taichung Lantern Festival took this further by responding to ecological environments, introducing dual main lanterns that elevated the event into a seamless fusion of humanity, art, and nature. Hosted by a different city each year, the festival is a warm invitation for travelers to discover the unique character of each region, fostering a deep sense of local pride among residents.
This year, the Taiwan Lantern Festival has invited four major international light festival teams and seven foreign artists to showcase 66 large-scale light installations and projection mapping works. Transforming the historic old town and urban parks of Hsinchu City, the event redefines the traditional celebration into an immersive, city-scale national lantern festival.
