The 2nd Romantic Route 3 Art Festival — A Century of Hakka Heritage Foundations
— Overview
The 2nd Romantic Route 3 Art Festival centers its curatorial theme on "Falabidbog" (a Hakka term meaning "vibrant and multicolored"). Within this framework, the "Design Introduction" initiative takes the "century-old foundations of Hakka villages" as its point of entry, selecting Zhudong and Guanxi in Hsinchu as demonstration towns for urban revitalization.
The core philosophy is to utilize a contemporary design vocabulary to delve deep into local cultural harvesting and uncover community memories. By doing so, it transforms seemingly traditional and rustic everyday Hakka living spaces into cultural showcases imbued with contemporary aesthetics, thereby activating and establishing a sustainable framework for a new Hakka aesthetic.
Moving away from the conventional approach of merely installing short-term art pieces, this "Design Introduction" project focuses instead on substantial design optimization and aesthetic reimagining tailored to the history, faith, and spatial fabric of Hakka villages.
